Typing a name in Calls in Teams brings up a number not associated with contact

In teams, when you put a persons name into it, it brings up a number that's not in contacts anywhere.

Other users in the organization that don't have the person in their contacts put the persons name into the Calls search field and the same wrongs number shows up. I'm in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The contact we're searching for is in the same city. The phone number that comes up, is a Texas USA area code. I even tried my name, and it comes up with my domain contact, but it also comes up with this number: +1527667828426.

No idea where that would even be for.

Where does Teams pull these numbers from?

This has been figured out on our end. the numbers are corresponding to the letters on the phone keys. The big confusion here is the name that brought this to our attention was just 10 characters, so looked like a proper phone number.

If the wrong number continues to appear in Microsoft Teams. Please try the following:

Clear the cache: Refer to Clear the Teams cache.
Sign in again: Sign out and back into Teams to see if the issue is resolved.
Check contact sync: Make sure Teams is properly synced with your organization's contact list.

Hi, Have same issue but although Contact shows up in Contact list on both Outlook and Teams, when searching in Calls > "Type a name or number" the contact name doesnt show up at all. This happens on the Web and on the Teams Client on Windows.
Sync from Outlook on web and Teams works (adding contact/readding works and shows the contact). Issue is on the web as well, would like to get it sorted on the Web please :)

@Vlad I found that to find your contacts, you have to go into your People tab in Teams.

Yea, sorry I meant some contacts are showing up if you search them in Calls > "Type a name or number", but a few stubborn ones dont. Although only 1 contacts folder exists in outlook. I've made a separate post anyway for this so hopefully someone ran into same issue.

We’re experiencing the same issue. When we dial this number, we receive a message saying that the number does not exist. How can we fix it so that only the number associated with the local contact is shown?

At the moment, we’re seeing numbers longer than 20 digits if the contact name in the local contact list (Other Contacts) is long.

The mobile phone we tested this on is new, with a fresh installation of Teams. Clearing the cache is therefore not necessary, as everyone using Teams in our organization encounters the same issue.
