Can't log into the Azure portal (portal.azure.com) due to MFA issue while I'm the only Admin of my personal azure account

I am stuck in an odd authentication loop trying to get into portal.azure.com. I enabled MFA last October and this is my personal Azure account. Here is what happening:

Navigate to https://portal.azure.com

Entering my account mail address and then I click on the button send notification

I got the authentication request through the Microsoft Authenticator app on my phone

Approve request

Get asked to remain connected

Answering yes

Branding on sign-in changes to a custom branding from one of our directories/subscriptions, the URL changes to [https://login.microsoftonline.com/directory_domain_name]/...

The prompt dialog says: "Entering the code shown in the Microsoft Authenticator App on the mobile device" but I didn't get any code on my Authenticator App. I choose to access it in a different way

Please I need help since I've been stuck in this situation for more than one month now.

    Hello @Maurizio Accardo ,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.
I understand that you're facing an issue with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using the Microsoft Authenticator app.
To resolve this issue, your account's MFA settings need to be revoked and reset. This action can only be performed by a Global Administrator (GA) in your tenant.

Steps for the Global Administrator to revoke MFA sessions and re-register for MFA:

    • Sign in to the Azure portal.
    • In the left menu, select Microsoft Entra ID> Users > All users.
    • Choose your user account, then select Authentication methods.
    • Select Revoke MFA sessions and then select Require re-registration MFA to reset the MFA settings for your account.
    • So you will be prompted to register for Multi factor Authentication the next time you sign in.

    Reference: Manage user authentication options.

Once the Global Administrator has reset your MFA, you should be able to proceed with registering the Microsoft Authenticator app successfully.

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
