User Principal Name changes forces a password reset

When creating a new account in On-Premises AD and changing the User Principal name after it syncs up to AAD, it will create a new password.

We are unsure why it is occurring as it used to not do this. It would save us a lot of time as taking the time to change the password again has been tedious.
