Hello Microsoft team,

The client has an MPSA, PA#0005777419.

Details: I had setup addition Citrix VDA (workload server) join with existing Citrix domain. The current domain have two VDA server in normal running. I have also used the RDS Diagnostic tool, it shows no error and the rdsh server can discover the RDS licensing server and also the license

In registry, Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services, we can also find the rds license server address and the mode is 4 (per user license)

Please advise how it can be fixed.

thanks and regards

Angel

    Hello     AngelCheung- HKT,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the information you have provided, it seems that the RDSH server is not able to communicate with the licensing server properly. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

    1. Check if the RDSH server is able to communicate with the licensing server by pinging the server and ensuring that there are no network connectivity issues.
    2. Ensure that the RDSH server is pointing to the correct licensing server by checking the registry key you mentioned earlier.
    3. Verify that the licensing server has the appropriate licenses installed and available for the RDSH server.
    4. Restart the Remote Desktop Licensing service on the licensing server and the RDSH server.
    5. If the issue persists, try removing and re-adding the RDSH server from the licensing server.

Here are steps to configure licensing for an RDS deployment.Provide you to contrast.

Step 1:If you want to configure Group Policy centrally from your domain or locally on each session host:

Open the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) and create or edit a policy that targets your session hosts.

Open the Local Group Policy Editor on the session host.

Step 2:Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Licensing.

Step 3: In the policy list, right-click Use the specified Remote Desktop license servers, and then select Properties.

Step 4: Select Enabled, and then enter the name of the license server under License servers to use. If you have more than one license server, use commas to separate their names.

    Step 5: Select OK.

Step 6: In the policy list, right-click Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode, and then select Properties.

    Step 7: Select Enabled.

Step 8: Under Specify the licensing mode for the Remote Desktop Session Host server, select Per Device or Per User, as appropriate for your deployment.

After configuration, please check the registry.

    1.Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services

LicensingMode, the value 4 for per user cal,the value 2 for per device cal

    2.Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM\Licensing Core

LicensingMode the value 4 for per user cal,the value 2 for per device cal

    3.Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\TermService\Parameters\LicenseServers ,

add string value: SpecifiedLicenseServers , value data is the FQDN OR IP address of license server

    4.Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Terminal Services,

Add string value LicenseServers to specify a License Server, value data is the FQDN OR IP address of license server
