Hyper-V remote desktop has no audio input device
Hi
I use a Windows Server 2022 as the host to run Hyper-V.
Using the gifted Windows Server VM serial number, I created a Windows Server VM.
Then connect to the VM directly in the Hyper-V management interface (not mstsc).
Although I enabled the corresponding group policy in the VM.
Also when establishing the connection, Remote audio recording was selected.
At the same time, the use of the microphone is also authorized on the host machine.
But in the VM, the audio input device cannot be obtained.
Is there anything else that needs to be set?

2024-02-21T02:39:32+00:00 Hi Admin,
Hope you're doing well.
- Select the virtual machine in Hyper-V Manager, and in Settings on the right, make sure Audio Devices is enabled in the Hardware section. Inside the virtual machine, you can inspect and configure the audio device by going to the Sound settings in Control Panel.
- Make sure that the operating system in the virtual machine has the audio driver installed correctly. Check in Device Manager to see if there are any audio device driver issues. Inside the virtual machine, check the operating system's sound settings to make sure the correct input device is selected, and the volume is set correctly.
- Select the virtual machine in Hyper-V Manager, and in Settings on the right, make sure RemoteFX 3D Video Adapter is enabled. This is because audio is supported through RemoteFX.
- I noticed that you have successfully configured Group Policy. Try restarting the virtual machine and Hyper-V host to ensure all settings take effect.
- Additionally, you may want to consider updating the Hyper-V and virtual machine integration services and operating system drivers. In some cases, especially using older versions of the integration services, some functionality may be unavailable.
Best Regards

2024-03-25T11:17:06+00:00 I have the exact same issue, took the exact same steps, I also tried to connect via RDP directly (instead of using Hyper-V Manager's enhanced session), but in my Windows Server 2022 Standard VM, the sound input device from my host simply won't show up.
Do you happen to have any suggestions on how we can obtain logs or debug this error? I can hear audio just fine from my VM, but I cannot use any microphones in it.
