Hyper-V remote desktop has no audio input device

Hi

I use a Windows Server 2022 as the host to run Hyper-V.

Using the gifted Windows Server VM serial number, I created a Windows Server VM.

Then connect to the VM directly in the Hyper-V management interface (not mstsc).

Although I enabled the corresponding group policy in the VM.

Also when establishing the connection, Remote audio recording was selected.

At the same time, the use of the microphone is also authorized on the host machine.

But in the VM, the audio input device cannot be obtained.

Is there anything else that needs to be set?

    Hi,

Further digging in to this audio issue on win11 enhanced session, it looks like we got to do something VERY SIMPLE ..LOL

Just follow this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/hyper-v-on-windows/user-guide/enhanced-session-mode and I bet it will work. You got to set this up on your VM logged in as basic session and then shutdown the VM, restart it and you can have all the audio played out of VM. So SIMPLE..

The very simple answer is you need to have a *PRO* windows license for the Host and the Guest Windows OS in order to use audio because you must enable Remote Desktop in the guest which requires the PRO Windows license. This won't work with Windows Home.
