how to fix grey screen on startup

first time starting up the computer it started acting weird, it wouldnt open task manager and i could pull up windows with the windows key. then after restarting it's been stuck in a grey screen ever since. Ive tried to uninstall latest quality update and that didnt work either

Based on my understanding of this problem, I suspect that the problem may be caused by missing or damaged system files. I suggest that you open the command prompt as an administrator and run the following command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

sfc /scannow

the only way i could fix it was resetting my computer and saving the files however now i have another problem where no matter what i do, my computer thinks theres no internet yet i can go on stuff like microsoft edge and browse the internet

Hi Alvin,

Thanks for your reply. I suggest you try the following method to reset the network to see if it can solve the problem:

1.Open cmd as an administrator and run the following command.

netsh winsock reset

2.Press Win + R to open the Run window, enter regedit and click OK to open the registry, and locate it at the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings \ Connections.

Then delete the "Connections" item and restart the computer.

Note If you modify the registry incorrectly, you can cause serious problems. Therefore, follow these steps carefully. For additional protection, back up the registry before you modify it.
