Manage Access - default View only access

We frequently receive requests from our business partners for access to documents within our SharePoint site. The requests are coming thru a generated SharePointOnline.com email to a specific group. However, when granting access, the default seems to be 'Can Edit'. Can we change the default access to 'Can View'?

    Hi @Burgos, Monique R

Great to know that and thanks for sharing the update here.

By the way, since the Microsoft Q&A community has a policy that "The question author cannot accept their own answer. They can only accept answers by others.". and according to the scenario introduced here: Answering your own questions on Microsoft Q&A, I would make a brief summary of this thread:

[Manage Access - default View only access]

    Issue Symptom:

We frequently receive requests from our business partners for access to documents within our SharePoint site. The requests are coming thru a generated SharePointOnline.com email to a specific group. However, when granting access, the default seems to be 'Can Edit'. Can we change the default access to 'Can View'?

    Current status:

This addresses a scenario when we initiate the share. When users initiate the request, we receive an email from SharePointOnline.com that looks like this: User's imageWhen 'Accept' is clicked from the emailed request, there is no option to adjust access to 'Can View'. I think I just figured it out. Once ACCEPT is clicked in the emailed request, a listing of the 'Pending Requests' is displayed. Then click the ellipses next to the requesters name and under Permission, change 'Edit' to 'View Only' then select 'Approve' User's image

You could click the "Accept Answer" button for this summary to close this thread, and this can make it easier for other community members to see the useful information when reading this thread. Thanks for your understanding!
