I am unable to publish changes in my Synapse workspace

M workspace is integrated with github. We've successfully published changes hundreds of times. Now we are getting an error "Error while publishing: Failed to getFolderInSingleRequest, folder: [workspace-name]. Reason: ae.data is undefined".

I've tried all of the published remedies for errors relating to publishing including:

Disconnecting/Reconnecting with github repository

Overwrite live mode

Unfortunately none of those suggestions have solved the problem. This error is occurring for all Synapse users in this workspace. I've tried multiple browsers, multiple machines, different users, disconnecting/reconnecting github, overwrite live mode, and reviewed publish_config.json. Any other ideas?

Hello @Jason Cox,This issue often occurs due to a mismatch between Azure synapse Live mode and Git mode.

It typically happens when Git is initially configured or when changes are made directly in Git or Live mode.

If you can't manually locate and resolve the conflict, you can re-sync the content through the Git Configuration page by using one of these options:

Overwrite Live Mode (recommended): Updates the Azure synapse (published) version to match the Git repository.

Import Resources: Updates a Git branch to match the current state of Azure synapse.

Note: Overwriting Live Mode may cause you to lose any changes not yet saved in Git.

To preserve those changes, you can first use the Import Resources option.

Hello. I've already tried both of those options. I receive the same error when attempting to overwrite live mode and importing resources appears to complete successfully but I still cannot publish changes. This is now urgent for us. We cannot change or fix anything at the moment.

I've also tried creating a new repository and changing the git integration configuration to use the new repository. I was able to publish one trivial change (a comment in a script") and then I started receiving the same error again.

I also tried temporarily changing the publish branch to the main branch and overwriting live mode. It appeared to have finished. I change the publish branch back to "workspace_publish" brand and i still cannot publish changes.

We are also encountering this error which is a significant and urgent blocker to our development in ADF. We started seeing the error on April 25th as well. We have disconnected/reconnected, overwritten with live mode, reverted all commits prior to the error, however nothing will resolve the error.

Hello, we are facing the same error also, since April 25th.

stored in the <repository> folder of the github project.

The first publish works fine, the files are generated correctly with the new updates, but when we do a second try the same error appears:

Error while publishing: Failed to getFolderInSingleRequest, folder: <xxxx>. Reason: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'repository')

So maybe deleting this files whenever we want to do a pulbish can work but we have not been able to fix the issue completely

Hi,

He have the same problem in our ADF since April 25th.

We tried to disconnect/connect; create a new publish branch based on master; overwrite live mode to a new blank repo.

First publish works, but after that we return to same error: Failed to getFolderInSingleRequest, folder: <xxxx>. Reason: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'repository').

The workaround that we are doing, while this is not fixed, is to create a publish branch from master, and do the first publish, knowing that next time we have to create another new branch for publish.

@Dileep Raj Narayan Thumula are you addressing this issues?

I'm also getting the same error in data factory and have tried all the things the others have tried in this thread to resolve it.

Error while publishing: Failed to getFolderInSingleRequest, folder:[data-factory-name]. Reason: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'repository')

A few things I've noticed is that I am able to publish changes if the git repository is disconnected. I'm also able to publish changes with an empty adf_publish branch, but as soon as the ARM templates are generated, the error returns.

Hello, we are experiencing similar error on ADF. We never had this error before and we have integrated our ADF instance with Git for couple of years now. Since 04/25th, when trying to publish we receive the publishing error "Error while publishing: Failed to getFolderInSingleRequest, forder: folder_name, Reason: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'repository')"

This has blocked us from publishing to production and now is escalating.

We have attempted disconnecting from Git and reconnecting, reverting previous PRs... and none has resolved the issue.

Would you please treat this with urgency?

I would like the ADF team to know I am abandoning ADF for Airflow. It's beyond inexcusable that Microsoft refuse to fix this. WE CANNOT JUST STOP WORKING BECAUSE YOU GUYS DO NOT WANT TO FIX ADF!!!

To everyone in this thread, you can do in airflow everything that you can do in ADF. My team is already making the switch because we have to publish pipelines now. There is a learning curve, but at least Airflow works, unlike ADF.
