One of our techs was tasked with deleting an unused virtual machine and deleted the entire resource group instead.

Is there a way we can recover this? There was another virtual machine on that resource group that had a production environment.

The disk and the virtual machine don't appear anywhere on azure now.

The resource group was called Neotech2024User's image

    Hi @Steve Dempsey ,

the only option I am aware of is restoring a VM from a backup, for instance a backup created by Azure Backup, if deleted by "accident".

If the resource group and all related Azure resources are deleted successfully there is no other way to restore these Azure resources.

    Hi Steve Dempsey,

Could you please tell us, when the Resource group was deleted?
Did you have Azure Backup configured for the VMs in that resource group?

You can't recover a deleted resource group. However, you might be able to restore some recently deleted resources.

Some resource types support soft delete. You might have to configure soft delete before you can use it. Soft delete only protects deleted backup data. If a VM is deleted without a backup, the soft delete feature won't preserve the data. All resources should be protected with Azure Backup to ensure full resilience.
