ACR - Zone Redundancy Setup

Hi Team,

We are exploring the option to enable Zone Redundancy (ZR) for our existing Azure Container Registry (ACR). However, we’ve discovered that ZR cannot be directly enabled on an existing registry.

As an alternative, we’re considering enabling Geo-replication with ZR configured for the new regional replicas. That said, we have a few questions regarding this setup:

If we enable Geo-replication, the original region’s registry will remain without Zone Redundancy, while the newly added regional registries will have ZR enabled.

Given this configuration, we’d like to confirm: If the original zone in a region becomes unavailable, will services such as App Service, Azure Container Apps (ACA), and AKS continue to function seamlessly without requiring any changes to the ACR endpoint URL?

Hi Khachane, Tushar,
You can only do Geo-replication with ZR replication if you upgrade to Premium tier Pricing plane.

If already done that step you can use Geo-replication
