  2. Expand 'Manage'
  3. Click 'Users'
  4. Open my user.
  5. Click on the tiny photo icon under my thumbnail.
  6. Upload the photo.

After taking these steps I get hit with error - Failed to upload user profile photo for Miroslav Tsvetanov

I am using basic Azure profile (the free version). I have also paid standard personal microsoft 365 plan.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? Let me know if there are any additiona info I can provide to help with the troubleshooting.

Issue: Unable to upload photo for Entra users (not B2C) - Failed to upload user profile photo for Miroslav Tsvetanov.

Solution: Entra didn't had Office 365 Exchange subscription (which is not included in the personal Microsoft 365 plan).

After activating a license for Office 365 Exchange I was able to upload profile photos for users.

If you have any other questions or are still running into more issues, please let me know. We are happy to assist you further. Thank you again for your time and patience throughout this issue.

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A,

Could you try updating your profile photo through the Microsoft 365 portal instead

    1. Go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/
    2. Click your avatar > Change Photo

    Upload from there

This route tends to work more reliably for personal and hybrid accounts.

You can also use Outlook on the web to change the user's photo or the Set-UserPhoto cmdlet. These methods enable you to upload a photo as large as 500 KB.

Please Upvote and accept the answer if it helps!!

    Hi @Miroslav Tsvetanov ,

Thank you for contacting Q&A Forum. I would like to provide my findings and proposed solution:

To update your user profile photo on the Microsoft 365 admin portal, please note the following prerequisites:

Photo Size: The maximum supported file size is 4 MB.

Supported Formats: Ensure your photo is in a supported format (such as .jpg, .png, or .gif).

Primary Method: Follow the guideline provided in this document to update your photo using the Microsoft 365 admin center: Change user profile photo - Microsoft 365 admin.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/add-users/change-user-profile-photos?view=o365-worldwide#use-the-microsoft-365-admin-center-to-change-a-users-profile-photo

Alternate Method: If the primary method does not work, you can add the user photo via Microsoft Graph PowerShell. This method requires Global Admin privileges. Detailed steps are available here: Add user photos using Microsoft Graph PowerShell.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/add-users/change-user-profile-photos?view=o365-worldwide#add-user-photos-in-microsoft-graph-powershell

Kindly let me know if this work for you and please let me know if you have any further question.

If I have answered your question, please accept this as answer as a token of appreciation and don't forget to give a thumbs up for "Was it helpful"!

    Best regards,
    Eric
