There is a problem with displaying the guides. This problem appeared after disabling hardware acceleration of image processing was removed from the Visio settings. How can this problem be solved?

    Hi @Mit ,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

After a thorough review of your request, we'd like to propose two potential methods that might help resolve the guide display issues in Visio. Please note that these options are intended for basic use and offer limited functionality. Please consider the following options:

    1. Registry Hack for Hardware Acceleration: According to Microsoft documentation, Office automatically disables hardware acceleration if it detects an incompatible graphics card or driver. Please refer to the document Excel hardware acceleration - Microsoft Community to re-enable Hardware Acceleration.  Important Note: To re-enable hardware acceleration, you'll be setting the value to 0, not 1 (which typically disables it).

WARNINGUsing Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Edit at your own risk.

    1. Adjust Graphics Settings
      • Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings.
        • Add Visio to the application list and select High Performance to use the best GPU.
          • Adjust the resolution and refresh rate to match your display.
    2. Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers are a common cause of display issues.
      • If you are using an NVIDIA or AMD graphics card, visit the official website to download the latest driver.
      • If you use integrated Intel graphics, update via Device Manager or Intel's support software
    3. For Visio 2016, a known workaround for disappearing guides was to go to the View tab, Show group, and check/uncheck the Grid checkbox to make the guidelines visible again. This might still work for some versions.

Additionally, we suggest reaching out to M365 Admin Center to open a support ticket directly with Microsoft. Please Sign in to Microsoft 365 admin center with your Microsoft 365 admin account, and select Support > Help and support, enter your question and select Contact support. This will create a ticket and let the agent to remote into your computer for deeper troubleshooting steps.

Appreciate your patience and understanding, and Hopefully Microsoft will make improvement soon.
