Hi All,

I'm planning to apply for AZ-305 certification exam and I have previously fulfilled the prerequisites of passing AZ-104 and acquiring the certification. However, the AZ-104 certification is now expired. The question is, can I apply directly to AZ-305 certification exam as I already fulfilled the prerequisities previously or I have to have an active status certification of AZ-104 before being able to apply for AZ-305.

My aim is to complete the exam and get the certification of AZ-305 so completing the exam and not receiving the badge or certification is not what I'm looking for.

Appreciate your help.

    Hi Simon Sorour,

To earn the Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification, you must pass AZ-305 and have an active AZ-104 certification. Since your AZ-104 is expired, you can still take the AZ-305 exam, but you won’t receive the certification or badge until AZ-104 is active again. If it expired within the last 6 months, you might be able to renew it for free online; otherwise, you’ll need to retake the exam. It's best to renew or retake AZ-104 before taking AZ-305 to ensure you get the full certification.
