Based on your description, I think your EDGE browser might be enabling the "Running in the Background" feature, when this feature is enabled, to disable this feature, you can do the following steps:
- Open Microsoft Edge and navigate to the ellipses (…) to open Settings and more.
- Select Settings > Systems and performance > Settings
- Scroll to Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed to toggle it off.

Additionally, you can try Blocking Edge's "Media Auto play" feature by
- Go to edge://settings/content/mediaAutoplay
- Set to "Limit" or "Block"
