Hello, our exchange is 2016. We have an email account using outlook 2013 and it will show the prompt "Attempting to connect". Then, after about a minute, it will return to normal and change to "Connected to MICROSOFT EXCHANGE". thank you

    Hi yanhaowen

Good day! Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

You didn’t specify the exact issue you're facing, but based on your description, it sounds like you're experiencing intermittent connectivity issues with Outlook 2013 connected to Exchange 2016, for example “Attempting to connect” before it eventually switches to “Connected to Microsoft Exchange.”

Here are a few suggestions you can try:

    • Check Your Network Connection: Make sure your internet connection is stable and not experiencing any interruptions.
    • Try Clearing Outlook Cache:

Follow these steps to clear the Outlook cache:

    1. Close Outlook completely.
    2. Open the Run dialog by pressing Windows + R
    3. Enter the following path and press Enter:%localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook
    4. Open the RoamCache folder
    5. Delete all files inside by pressing Ctrl + A, then right-click and choose Delete

Note: You may want to back up the files before deleting them, just in case you need to restore anything.

    • Clear Windows Credentials for Outlook

You can try removing Outlook-related credentials stored in Credential Manager

    1. Open Credential Manager: Press Windows + S, type Credential Manager, and select Open
    2. Go to Windows Credentials: Click the Windows Credentials tab.
    3. Find Outlook-related entries: Look for credentials related to Outlook, Office 365, or your email address.
    4. Remove credentials: Click Remove for each entry related to Outlook.
    5. Restart Outlook: After removing the credentials, restart Outlook and enter your login details again.
