I received the following message:

You are receiving this email because your associated Microsoft Entra ID tenant (tenant ID provided) has been inactive for more than 200 days.

Complete a purchase by June 13, 2025 to keep your account active

The company that provided this software and the product number are out of business. Why do I have to buy new software?

Answers posted to my original concern was not clear. Please help. Thanks

    Hello,

    Thanks for your question.

You don't have to buy any new product, since the company is not active anymore. You are getting this email just to indicate that you're part of a tenant that has been inactive for >200 days.

If a tenant remains inactive for over 200 days past the billing cycle, Microsoft initiates a process to remove inactive tenants. The tenant is deleted after 20 days of being inaccessible due to inactivity and it isn't recoverable.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/fundamentals/inaccessible-tenant.

If it is beyond 20 days, you do not have the option to recreate.

I would recommend you reach out to support here:

So based on the information, you're good.

    Hello @G Jackson

You don't have to purchase any new product, since just like you mentioned the company that provided this software and the product number are out of business, that means the tenant of the company is not in used already. You are getting this email just to notify that you're part of a tenant that has been inactive for >200 days.

Microsoft will initiate a process to remove inactive tenants if they remain inactive over 200 days. Tenants will become inaccessible due to inactivity and if they remain in this state for longer than 20 days will be deleted.

    Hello @G Jackson

The email you received from Microsoft indicates that your Microsoft Entra ID tenant has been inactive for over 200 days. This is a reminder to take action regarding your tenant's inactivity.

To avoid any service disruptions, it's recommended that you make a purchase or renew your existing subscriptions before the deadline of June 13th, 2025. This will ensure that your tenant remains active.

For clarification regarding the Entra ID tenant, a Microsoft Entra tenant provides identity and access management (IAM) capabilities for the applications and resources used by your organization. An identity represents a directory object that can be authenticated and authorized to access resources. These identity objects include human identities (such as students and teachers) as well as non-human identities like classroom and student devices, applications, and service principals.

The Microsoft Entra tenant serves as an identity security boundary under the control of your organization’s IT department. Within this boundary, the administration of objects (such as user objects) and the configuration of tenant-wide settings are managed by your IT administrators.

If you're already using services like Microsoft 365, Office 365, Azure, or Dynamics CRM Online, your tenant is automatically a Microsoft Entra tenant. You can start managing access to your integrated cloud apps right away. For additional information refer these documents:
