Clarification on Licensing for Microsoft Entra Private Access

Hi all,

I’m currently using Microsoft Entra to authenticate wired clients. I’d like to understand whether I need additional licenses to enable Microsoft Entra Private Access for a group of contractors (10 users).

I’ve read that the cost is approximately $5 per user/month, but I’m not sure if this applies to me, as I already have a Microsoft Entra ID P1 license.

Could you please clarify whether the P1 license covers Private Access, or if the additional cost applies?

Thank you, Mauro

AFAIK, a Microsoft Entra ID P1 license is a prerequisite for using Microsoft Entra Private Access, but P1 alone does not include Private Access. It also enables Internet Access for Microsoft services, but not the full Private Access profile.

To enable Private Access for your contractors, you must have either:

  1. A standalone Microsoft Entra Private Access license per user ($5 /user/month), in addition to their P1 license, or
  2. The full Microsoft Entra Suite license ($12 /user/month), which includes Private Access plus additional Entra capabilities.

    Hello @Mauro Fadda

Thank you for contacting Q&A Forum. While Microsoft Entra ID P1 is a prerequisite, it does not include Private Access by default. However, Microsoft Entra Private Access is available as a standalone product of Entra Suite and included in Microsoft Entra Suite license plan itself. You can get the Private Access separately for $5/user/month or get the entire Entra Suite License at $12/user/month.
