What regions are Teams Power Automate Workflows supported in?

When trying to migrate from the existing channel webhook method to use the new Power Automate Workflows - I encountered the following error message:

Tenant home region 'nz' is not supported.

So if New Zealand isn't supported for Microsoft Teams Workflows (Specifically posting a message to a channel) - what do we do when the original channel webhooks are removed?

    Hi @Ben Templeton (R+R)

Thank you for reaching out on the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand you're looking to switch from the existing channel webhook method to Power Automate Workflows, and you've run into an issue because your tenant’s home region is set to New Zealand.

Based on my research, at this time, Microsoft Teams Workflows (specifically those that post messages to a channel using Power Automate) are not yet supported in tenants whose home region is set to New Zealand ('NZ'). This is why you're encountering the error message:

"Tenant home region 'nz' is not supported."

You can find more details about supported regions in the official documentation here:

Regions overview for Power Automate - Power Automate | Microsoft Learn

In the meantime, here are a few things you could consider:

I understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, but I hope this clarification helps you better understand the current situation.

Thanks again for your understanding, and please feel free to let me know if you need any further assistance.

If Microsoft retires the original channel webhooks and your tenant is in an unsupported region, you will not be able to use Teams Workflows (Power Automate) to post messages to Teams channels as a direct replacement. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/regions-overview

There is currently no official workaround that fully replaces channel webhooks in unsupported regions.

    What are your options?

    1. Monitor Microsoft 365 Roadmap and Documentation
    1. Use Microsoft Graph API as an Alternative
    • You can use the Microsoft Graph API to post messages to Teams channels.
    • This requires registering an Azure AD app, granting the necessary permissions, and using delegated or application permissions to send messages.

To achieve your requirements, we recommend you give your feedback in Teams Feedback Portal.

    Thanks,

    Prasad Das
