Slow MS_Access print preview formatting after KB5060999 update

Greetings!

This is happening for many users with the enterprise license - slowness when opening any report within the ACCDB files.

The reports "Print preview" and "Print" functions fall into a slow process that does not consume CPU, RAM, nor GPU. The message displayed during this time at the bottom left is "Formatting page. Press CRL+BREAK to stop", which is not possible, since the app freezes.

There is no slowness or side effects when checking the report on "Report view", "Design view", or "Layout view".

Already tried a few "common" troubleshooting related to Win11 and MS_Access (Install virtual printers, remove all printer drivers, update DELL drivers, clear cache, create the same report from scratch, remove the KB using wusa.exe, etc)

For testing purposes, I intentionally forced an update in a laptop with the KB5058405 (23H3) that was not affected (albeit some other laptops already presented the issue in this version) and ran into the same slowness issue.

Most of the devices are Dell hardware - 35XX series

All windows 11 23H2 users with version above the 5335 KB5058405

Any help or advice is outmost welcome.

    Dear Silva Nicolas[Nikorasu_SHIRUBA] •

Thank you for submitting your question to the Q&A forum.

I understand that you are encountering performance issues when using the "Print Preview" and "Print" functions in Microsoft Access reports. Based on the details you provided, this issue appears to affect multiple Dell devices running Windows 11 version 23H2, despite your efforts to apply various standard troubleshooting methods.

You also mentioned that the issue persists even after installing KB5058405. Upon further investigation, I found that this is not the most recent cumulative update. The latest available update is KB5060999 (OS Builds 22621.5472 and 22631.5472), released on June 10, 2025.

I conducted tests in a controlled environment using this latest update and attempted the same operations. Fortunately, the issue with slow report rendering no longer occurred. Based on these results, I recommend updating one of your affected devices to the latest Windows version and re-testing the "Print Preview" and "Print" functionalities.

You can find more information about the latest update at the following link:  June 10, 2025—KB5060999 (OS Builds OS Builds 22621.5472 and 22631.5472) - Microsoft Support

Please note that my test environment does not currently have access to a physical printer, which may limit certain features such as "Print Preview." However, I encourage you to proceed with the update and verify whether the issue persists.

Should the problem continue or if any new errors arise, kindly provide a screenshot of the error message or behavior. This will help us better understand the issue and propose a more accurate solution.

If you prefer not to share this information publicly, please feel free to respond directly. I will follow up with a private message to collect the necessary details securely.

Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to assisting you further and resolving this matter promptly.
