Hello

Please i need your help on this issue.

I need to change my Sharepoint domain, but it says it reached to maximum allowed domain.

I have asked about this almost a year ago. I really need to change this domain since our business has changed, and this the current domain is preventing us from operating.

I want to change the domain part of my SharePoint which should the screenshot below.

Here is the guide to do it: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/change-your-sharepoint-domain-name

I used the PowerShell method which is Start-SPOTenantRename -DomainName <DomainName> -ScheduledDateTime YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS [-WhatIf] [-Confirm]

However, what I got is an error message that “reached maximum allowed domain change” because I have changed domain in the past.

I wasn’t allowed to change the domain for a year, but I think it is time that we could change our domain again.

    Hi IBN

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum support and apologize for the inconvenience

According to this Microsoft’s official article, each Microsoft 365 tenant is allowed to change its SharePoint domain name only once. This is a strict limitation currently enforced by Microsoft. If you have already performed a domain rename in the past, any further attempts will not be allowed.

This limitation is in place regardless of how much time has passed since the previous rename. At this time, Microsoft does not provide a built-in method to reset or extend this limit through PowerShell or the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

If your business operations are being significantly impacted by the current domain, the recommended next step is to open a support request with Microsoft in this link:

    Link request: Advanced Tenant Rename

Hope you will solve your problem soon
