Hi,

I have a user who does a lot of work with powerpoint and she is always having a lot of issues with the web and app version. Files take a long time to save or she gets an error, I have attached some of the errors.

Some of her powerpoint files are quite large, up to 700mb, and they contain videos and pictures.

I have downloaded the latest version off office 64 bit and she has 32 GB RAM. Not really sure what else to do, so would appreciate any suggestion.

Thanks

    Hi @Brian Liu

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand you're dealing with a frustrating situation for your user, especially since PowerPoint is critical to her work. Let me go through each of the errors you've provided.

    "Cannot paste the slide":

Please try to disable or remove all of Add-ins then try again > navigate to File > Options > Add-Ins > clear the check box for all enabled COM add-ins > click on OK. -Try to Repair Microsoft Office:

    • Clear the Clipboard: Clipboard: you can either use the built-in Clipboard manager or simply copy a small amount of text from another source.

"Can't open this presentation because we ran into a problem":

When opening with the desktop app, does the error still occur?  If the error still occurs when opening with the app, you can refer to the following link: Error: Can't read file, or Presentation cannot be opened - Microsoft Support

PowerPoint files not rendering in Office Online Server after Security Update - Microsoft 365 Apps | Microsoft Learn

     Unable to create Excel:

For the error related to links you can try saving the file location instead of on OneDrive and adding the folder to the Trusted Location.

A 700MB presentation is pushing the limits of what the software can handle smoothly, leading to errors, slow performance, and potential corruption. Please try following workarounds:

File Optimization: PowerPoint has a built-in tool to reduce the file size of images without a noticeable loss in quality for presentation purposes > Click on any picture in the presentation > Picture Format tab > Click Compress Pictures > uncheck "Apply only to this picture" to compress all images in the file.

If PowerPoint continues to encounter errors, you can try referring to the following articles for troubleshooting:

PowerPoint isn't responding, hangs or freezes - Microsoft Support   Fixes or workarounds for recent issues in PowerPoint for Windows - Microsoft Support    Please give those troubleshooting steps a try. If the issue persists, please feel free to provide us with any additional details. Thank you for your understanding.
