hi.

each time i click on Internet Explorer, Windows 10 forced to open Edge instead which is rather annoying. Under normal circumstances, browsing using Edge is fine with me. But on my trading platform, specific function doesn't work under Edge. Contacted broker house, was told to use IE instead.

anyone can shade some light on this?

Just happened to me. Accidentally clicked one of those annoying 'please change to edge' buttons when I was distracted. To solve :

In Edge, click the three dots (ellipsis) in the top right hand corner,

then select Settings, then select Default Browser.

There is then a heading "Let Internet Explorer open sites in Microsoft Edge". In my case this had been switched to 'Always' - I switched it to 'Never' even though this isn't the recommended setting.

Then I closed Edge and opened Internet Explorer without issue.

    Hope this helps some folks.

I just had the same issue. I opened up edge first. Go to settings on the right top. Scroll down to the settings again on the drop down. When that comes up you'll see on the left of the screen a few different options. I believe the 7th one down is the option Default Browser. Click on that and on the right side a few options will come up. On the second option down it'll give you a choice to allow edge to open and all IE, or only when the IE can't open a page, and Edge can always open even if you click on IE. I put mine on only if IE can't open the page. Then I restarted my laptop. It now works with no issues.

My experience is the same as yours. During a period of distraction, I accidentally clicked one of those annoying 'please change to edge' buttons. Solve the following:

Click the three dots (ellipses) in the top right hand corner,

choose Settings, and choose Default Browser.

Alternatively, follow the link for "Let Microsoft Edge open Internet Explorer sites". Although it isn't the recommended setting, in my case the setting was 'Always',

so I had to switch it to 'Never'.

My Internet Explorer opened without issue after I closed Edge.

That should help a few people.

Thanks, that helps. That's very odd. Edge should open in case the Home page doesn't work, but IE should not close on its own.

Have you tried disabling/enabling it from Windows features and check?\

Rather than trying to turn back the tide, you might consider opening the site in Edge's IE mode. Click (Settings and more) > Settings > Default browser and turn on Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode. As the option's info text says,

If this option is on, you can open sites that require Internet Explorer in Microsoft Edge using Internet Explorer mode. To reload the page in Internet Explorer mode, select Settings and more > More tools > Reload in Internet Explorer mode. If this option is off, it won’t appear under More tools.
