Wrong Language being displayed in Microsoft Edge as of Nov 5

Question

I was getting a pop up in edge that asked me to select my language. I ignored the first few requests (why would I change my preference 'US English'?). Finally I selected US English. The language was changed to French. The next time I started Edge, a service change notice was being displayed in French.

I go to Edge, Settings, Language to select US English and the drop down list is disabled, I Close Edge, Open Edge, go to Edge, Settings, Language, I was able to select US English, But I got UK English.

Microsoft you have a problem please advise. Other people are reporting this.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version and Microsoft Edge browser version? Please check them and only send the relevant information without PII in the next reply.

• System version Win + R key, and type "winver", press Enter.
• Microsoft Edge browser version Type "edge://settings/help" in the Edge address bar and press Enter*.*

Based on the current situation, I suggest you remove the existing language from the language list, restart your browser and then re-add the corresponding language again.

Then you may Repair Microsoft Edge browser. **** "Win" logo key + "I" open Windows Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair*.*

Modal window displays at Edge start up.

1. Press Accept get a language popup
2. The drop down list (ddl) does not work.
3. Use pop up's Cancel button
4. Go to Setting, Language
5. Change Language (DDL works) Language changes
6. Close Edge
7. Open Edge and I am back at Step 1

If this happens on a blank Bing homepage, you can select "United States (English)" in the screen shown below.

If you are using Bing (bing.com) as your home page, you can visit Bing Search | Settings (bing.com) to confirm that the language settings within your account are the ones that you want.

Also if you have multiple profiles in your Microsoft Edge browser, please make sure you are using the correct profile.

Or open the Microsoft Edge browser in InPrivate mode(Ctrl + Shift + N).

I tried the things you asked. They do not work.

FYI - I have 2 computers. both have the same problem. The problem appeared after I upgraded my laptop to windows 11. Perhaps a coincidence.

I tried the step you gave for repair on both my pcs' and that has fixed the problem on my tower(windows 10), but not on my laptop (widows 11).

Please reread my post regarding the modal window that appears when edge is started. I can not get pat this in windows 11.
