Microsoft Edge Error Code: Out of Memory fixes?

Hi,

I am getting the Error code: Out of Memory issue occurring on Edge almost daily, it can happen at various points during the day, normally I have at max 3-5 tabs open on edge normally but no more than 10 tabs open at a maximum and sometimes I may have a game playing on my other monitor. This occurs both when I have games running and when they are closed.

Sometimes this results in my games crashing to desktop or the GPU drivers/task manager crashes and I get a black screen and it looks like it when you boot into safe mode and the GPU drivers have been reset and I cannot use my other monitors during this process, restarting usually fixes this for a period of time.

I do have three extensions enabled, they are AdBlock Plus, and two twitch extensions: Better TTV & FrankerFaceZ

I have tried reinstalling edge, clearing browsing data, cookies. I also have tried this with chrome, and it does the same thing. It is really frustrating.

My PC Specs are.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

RAM: 64GB 3600 MHz Corsair DDR4

GPU: Gigabyte Vision 3030 and the current driver is 551.23.

My current windows version is 23H2 and is up to date.

My Microsoft edge version is Version 121.0.2277.98 (Official build) (64-bit)

The problem is when you open the three dots and try to access the settings its not there. You get a page saying theres not enough memory for this to open. You need to come up with a better fix or Microsoft is going to be paying alot of customers for new computers that they destroyed

Welll ... with this problem, when you try to open settings, settings in turn will say memory problem.

Also, when trying to repair, you get that the version on your PC is newer than the version that is being loaded to repair.

    STUCK.

    Dear Michael Thurley

Recently there has been a very large amount of user feedback regarding EDGE Out of Memory.

We have researched and tested this issue, incorporating solutions from enthusiastic partners.

Now we have organized the causes and solutions of the problem.

    Reason for the problem:

The user's current configuration file Enhance your security on the web has a conflict with the current version of EDGE, resulting in this message.

Solution: 1. If users can go to EDGE settings "Settings>Privacy, search and services," scroll down to the "Security" section and then turn off "Enhance your security on the web."

Solution: 2. If the user cannot access the settings, then you can download the EDGE BETA version.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/download/insider?form=MA13FJ

To open the BETA version of EDGE Login to your Microsoft account - then turn off "Enhance your security on the web".

The account profile will remember this setting and you can then go back to the official EDGE browser and log out of your Microsoft account and sign in again.

    Solution: 3

If the user is completely unable to turn on EDGE

Organizes the registry for the enhanced features of EDGE.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge]

    "EnhanceSecurityMode"=dword:00000000

00=Always turn off Enhanced Security Mode for all users in Microsoft Edge

01=Always turn on Balanced Enhanced Security Mode for all users in Microsoft Edge

02=Always enable Strict Enhanced Security Mode in Microsoft Edge for all users

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. If this program works, please click YES in the lower left corner and choose Helpful. This will allow more users to see this final solution.

    Finally, thanks a lot to Nails89 ~~~

    Thank you for the fix.

For Solution: 3 strangely I did not have that policy in the registry at all, and yesterday I installed the preview update KB5034848 for Win 11 23H2 which strangely caused the setting to be changed and bricked all Edge settings.

I used an insider dev build and opened Edge on the other machine and changed that setting as it was not crashing with memory issues there just on stable Windows 11.
