Any way to apply folder view settings specifically to subfolders?

I do NOT want my folder settings to be applied to all folders, just a particular one plus its sub folders.

Like for example I have a picture folder with a bunch of pictures as well as folders which also contains pictures. Now when it comes to pictures, I like them to be Large Icons with the sorting done as Date Modified - Ascending . Instead of having to do that manually for every single folder within that folder, can I just make changes in the main folder and apply it specifically to the subfolders ?

You can apply it to a single folder or as many as you want all at once.  Just "lasso select' (or ctrl-click or whatever you want to do to highlight the folders you wish to change), then go to properties.  You can change all the folders you want at the same time.

For example, let's say I want program files, users, and temp to all be considered picture folders, and use that template.  I can select them, go to properties, and change them all at once.

    Nothing is useless :)

Why did you tell the person how to do exactly what they told you they didn't want to do? That's not being helpful in the least.

You can do it for only subfolders if you use the "folder templates" ability.  I've been there, here's how:

    1. Open your C:\Users\Peter\ folder (it is important that you don't navigate here using a Library), then right-click on the Music folder and choose Properties.
    2. On the Customize tab, choose Music from the list (this is the folder type, which becomes important in step 4).  Make sure the "apply this template to all subfolders" is on, then click Apply.
    3. Double-click your Music folder to go inside it.  Set the options as you wish (columns, icon size, and so on).
    4. While still inside your Music folder, tab Alt to show the menu bar and choose Tools > Folder Options.  On the View tab, click Apply to Folders.  The settings from this folder that you just customized will be copied to all other folders that have the same template (which they received in step 2).

Note that even after you do this, opening the folder by way of a library will use the Library's view.  However, you can set that view to match and it will be remembered as well.

Hear, hear.  That's one of my pet peeves in these forums.  Thanks for pointing that out.

I believed you , and did what you said, and it applied the settings to every folder on my computer, not only those that have the same template.

    Annoying, really.
