Windows Update Error Code: 80072EE2

Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit edition, Microsoft Security Essentials, and windows firewall. I keep getting the 80072EE2 error.

I have no idea what to do about this. Ive already tried all the methods in both:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error-80072ee2

with the exception of the Method F and the Advanced methods: B/C.

Ive been trying to update since last night, so I dont think waiting anymore will help.

Ive also uninstalled and reinstalled my network adapter driver.

(Also tried the little "fixit" button on this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/bfbdec70-e928-47ee-b073-665c4851bf4c)

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Fireblaze,

I am sorry it took so long for me to get back to your thread.

I would suggest you to follow the steps listed under **"Advanced troubleshooting methods"**in the following article:

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates

Here it is May already. Sorry, but waiting hasn't been the solution. Tried over and over again.  I have been in touch with Microsoft via phone re this problem.  We spent days on it - it has not been resolved.  So my next thing is to try to follow the registry key suggestion. Thanks.

no worries Kevliu, thanks for the feedback.

MS Moderators:  what's the fix for this other than swapping to a wireless hotspot?  why are we seeing this error as I mentioned above:

"DnldMgr Error 0x8024401c occurred while downloading update; notifying dependent calls.

2011-11-23 14:49:13:558  400 560 AU AU checked download status and it changed: Downloading is paused"

To my mind it is something going wrong with the NIC's dns or tcpip.

Why does it work after the updates get installed from a different NIC?

What update is fixing this issue?

Maybe if we downloaded that one update from another machine and installed it, it would fix the general issue and we could continue normally.  How about some feedback on what we are talking about.  Like you said this conversation started in 2009 and yet . . . nothing??

Oh, I get it, sorry for not creating a parallel thread and duplicating the error on the forums so that it becomes impossible to find a concise troubleshooting method to fix a problem that has multiple fixes.

    Gweeeep,

Thanks. It works. I disabled all NIC and connected to my iphone using its hotspot. It discovered over 100 updates. I switched over back to cable modem via wifi and it is still downloading. Thanks again. this is the most effective solution of all.
