Windows 7 Window Animations Disabled automatically.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to ask wether there is some sort of setting that automatically disables windows animations in Windows 7. I`ve tried setting the flag from the interface under advanced in My Computer, looked for the registry entry and set it to 1, or even set the visuals to best appearance. No matter what I try it gets disabled and I want it to stay on.

I was thinking maybe there is a performance evaluator in the background which disables it because Windows Aero Experience is too low. But this is not the case as I have a 5.9 expeience index with Desktop Graphics.

Also I checked the group policy editor to see if there is an entry that sets the aero animations off and there was one under User Configuration-> Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Desktop Window Manager and the entry`s name is Do not allow window animations which I set to disabled in order for window animations to be left on.

Still when I restart the computer the window animations are gone, and the setting must be rechecked in order for them to work.

Thanks for the hep anyone,

Razvan

    Hi all

I have the very same problem until I read a post in sevenforum

    http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/118847-animation-when-minimizing-maximizing-windows.html

Once I disabled the Citrix entries in msconfig, the animation stayed on after system reboot.

However, if you don't have Citrix installed.  You might want to go through the clean boot process to isolate the problem program (rather than service).

    Best regards

    WT

" The aero theme is basically enabled depending on video card.

Windows Display Driver Model is the graphic driver architecture for video card drivers running Microsoft Windows versions beginning with Windows Vista.

WDDM driver model version 1.0 is that it does not support multiple drivers in a multi-adapter, multi-monitor setup, the latest version is 2.0 is introduced.

Windows will disable the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) that controls the transparent glass effect or other effects of the Aero theme. The DWM manages the desktop and the primary display settings in Windows.

I would suggest you to check with your manufacturer for latest drivers to support your hardware configuration.

Hope this information helped you. "

Well as I see it in the other thread which this one points to, there are people who have it worse than I do :P Meaning that their whole aero glass theme gets turned off.

I just wanted window animations to stay on, as I have all the latest drivers installed and everything works ok but this. My station has a ATI Radeon 5770 video card installed with the latest drivers, and all Windows 7 Updates are up to date. Guess theres no solution, its just a bug. I`ll post here once I find anything else out about this. Please do the same :D

    Thank you,

    Razvan

    Hi RazvanCio,

Aero feature does not have a bug for any windows 7 version. As abhishek has informed you it entirely depends on the hardware and the system specification you are using. But to assist you better do let us know the answers to below questions -

    1. Do the Aero features stop working only when you change the theme or in any other case?

    2. Since when are you facing this issue?

**Method 1:**I would suggest you to use the aero troubleshooter once and check if you get any issues listed by the troubleshooter -

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Open-the-Aero-troubleshooter

**Method 2:**You may check if you face the same issue when you login as administrator. It is possible that the user account is responsible for the issue. You may also check if the issue persists with a different user account on the same computer. Refer to the below links for assistance on user accounts -

    Create a user account -

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/Create-a-user-account

Fix a corrupt user profile -

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

    Method 2:

The graphics card number you have mentioned should support aero. So I would suggest you to try installing the latest drivers from the manufacturer website and check if this helps you. Refer to the below links to get the latest drivers installed -

    http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers\_catalyst.aspx?p=win7/windows-7-32bit

    http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-radeon-hd-5000/hd-5770/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-5770-specifications.aspx

You may also refer to the below mentioned link and use the steps provided for updating the drivers-

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

    Hope this helps.
