Windows 7 Window Animations Disabled automatically.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to ask wether there is some sort of setting that automatically disables windows animations in Windows 7. I`ve tried setting the flag from the interface under advanced in My Computer, looked for the registry entry and set it to 1, or even set the visuals to best appearance. No matter what I try it gets disabled and I want it to stay on.

I was thinking maybe there is a performance evaluator in the background which disables it because Windows Aero Experience is too low. But this is not the case as I have a 5.9 expeience index with Desktop Graphics.

Also I checked the group policy editor to see if there is an entry that sets the aero animations off and there was one under User Configuration-> Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Desktop Window Manager and the entry`s name is Do not allow window animations which I set to disabled in order for window animations to be left on.

Still when I restart the computer the window animations are gone, and the setting must be rechecked in order for them to work.

Thanks for the hep anyone,

Razvan

    Hi all

I have the very same problem until I read a post in sevenforum

    http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/118847-animation-when-minimizing-maximizing-windows.html

Once I disabled the Citrix entries in msconfig, the animation stayed on after system reboot.

However, if you don't have Citrix installed.  You might want to go through the clean boot process to isolate the problem program (rather than service).

    Best regards

    WT

    3. Click on settings in the pane and then the Visual Effects tab.
    4. **Check to make sure “**Let Windows choose what’s best for my computer” and **“Animate controls and elements inside windows”**is checked.
    5. If this is not checked the you may change the options by selecting “ Custom” **and then selecting the “**Animate controls and elements inside windows”

It does not make a difference.

I can select either "Let Windows Choose" or "Best Appearance" and all the boxes will be ticked. The window animations will then return, but only until I reboot the computer. After reboot, those tick boxes are still checked, but the animations are gone.

    1. Are you still facing the same issue on both windows Vista and Windows 7 computers? 2. Did you check after removing the third party themes and security software on Windows 7 computer?

    3. What are the power plan settings for both of your computers? 4. Have you checked after changing the power plan settings?

    Hi Meghmala,

I know denial is a strong thing for some, but this is so clearly a bug, that its becoming painfully obvious, I think I can get a job at Microsoft for detecting such an obvious bug :P. Im awesome. But you know what, Id trade all that for my animations to just work. Sadly they dont. This doesnt concern vista installations, since I havent installed win vista on my laptop. OF COURSE the "Turn off all unnecessary animations (when possible)" wasnt checked since I did see the animations after checking the setting in advanced computer settings. This bug MUST BE LOGGED, nobody noticed it, since everyones so eager to disable animations. This was such a simple feature: animations, but it doesnt seem to work. How many times does someone have to post in this thread until this issue reaches a microsoft developer after being replicated. I really dont think its such a difficult task. Just install windows, install directx end-user runtime, install office, install steam, install a game (preferrably a free one, lets say Alien Swarm) run it a little, use a few apps, enjoy the animations, reboot... poof theyre gone. Remember all my nvidia and intel video drivers are up to date, I check theyre up to date every time I post in this thread so that I can be upset when you recommend new driver installations, as if we`re born yesterday.

Please suggest a solution, or say: its a backlog bug, it wont ever be fixed, unless no other critical or medium priority bugs appear.

    Thank you,

    Razvan
