Whenever i try to install an update from windows update, i get an error. I have tried researching the problem to find a solution but i cant. There seems to be no solution. Can you please help. The update i am trying to install is Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 3 (KB955706)

You should DISABLE any anti-virus or Firewall programs that my conflict then got into safe mode and download the update maunelly.
The Advanced Boot Options menu lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting modes. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts.

Just to let you know. I just downloaded and installed Vista SP2 with no problems. About the update-failure warning: just hide it by right clicking on it, no more stupid prompts.
It feels like faster i most say.

well mine is hp pavillion dv4 1241tx under vista home basic.....m havin this problem for long and i kept ignoring it, but now m fed up of seeing it again everyday. moreover its not allowing me to move on and convert my sp1 to sp2.
