    Hello,

    1. Does the issue persist only with .netframework?
    2. How are you  installing it? Is it through windows update or manually?

    a: Click Start > Run.

b: Type cmd and press Enter.

Please run the following command in the opened window.

    net stop WuAuServ

c: Click Start > Run Type %windir% and press Enter.

d: In the opened folder, rename the folder SoftwareDistribution to SDold.

e: Click Start> Run type cmd and press Enter.

Please run the following command in the opened window.

    net start WuAuServ

    Hope this information helps.

    Jessen,

What might have caused problem to the Windows Update folder (%windir%\SoftwareDistribution) that required renaming the folder?  Is there anything needed to save and or merge to the newly created Windows Update folder?  Does it affect Windows updates such as removing or reinstalling?

    Thank you!

    Hello ...

    1. Yes.
    2. I'm Installing Manually ... The Windows Update does not work

And the "net stop WuAuServ" console tells me:

    System error 5.

    Access denied.

PD: The Windows Search does not work ... tells me:

The Internet security settings prevented the opening of one or more files

If you get this error, go to C:\Windows\System32, right click on "cmd.exe" and choose "Run as administrator". It did the job for me

Thanks for the correct information and steps.  I was having the hresult 0xc8000222 issue after doing a new clean install of windows7  So many programs now use the .net 4  I cant figure out why it is not auto installed with windows.  I am not a computer person so it did take me a while to figure out exactly what to type and where but did get it done.  One of the biggest road blocks was step d. I kept thinking it was going to open in the folder that needed renamed.  I had to scroll down to find the SoftwareDistribuion.  I am slow but I am also old.  I did this and it works. Thanks again.  Roger
