    Hi DJLef,

It has been a while since you posted your message, but I think, it will also help others. I had the same problem and found out that it was only a Windows 7 problem, and fixed it as follows:

    1. Deactivate the "intermediate storage" of thumbnails under Windows 7.
    2. Download the software "Process Monitor": http://www.chip.de/downloads/Process-Monitor\_22625020.html
    3. Start "Process Monitor": There you will find the file on which dllhost.exe attempts to get access over and over again. In my case it was an .avi file on my Desktop.
    4. When you have found your file, remove the file from your computer.

    The problem should be solved!

    Good luck!

    ks

I found it helpful to identify the problem only. The problem was with the large and medium icon view of explorer for folder containing videos (windows 10). In list and detail view i had no problem.  I installed k-lite codec pack and problem is solved.

All of the above methods this one (creating a new account*) has worked for me. THANK YOU.

The "sfc/ scannow" didn't yield positive result, and re-installing seems to be a rather lengthy process to me.

I just need to re-customize many of the appearances of Windows, i.e., start-menu desktop etc.

    * To use the same MS account, you can >create a new (temporary) account>change the new account type to Administrator> log-in with the new account delete the old account, where the problem was there> then create new account with your old account credentials > you may delete the (temporary) account now.
