How to decrease Ping

I am using Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo 505 laptop. Of late I've been facing lag in my internet speed. So when I took a ping test, it came out 134.

I want to ask, how can I decrease the ping value? Because it's causing my internet to slow down considerably.

I have a 4Mbps connection. The company guy said that in order to get my full speed, I'll need to reduce the Ping value. It's showing 4Mbps when I check my speed, but giving less than a fraction of it when I'm downloading something.

As Shawn mentioned, there are a lot of variables when you are using the internet.

When you use an internet website designaed to check your connection speed, the results you are seeing may not be accurate.

Here are some items to consider.

1. The internet server you are accessing may be under a very heavy load and not be able to keep up with all of the traffic.
2. The number of users accessing the internet in your part of the world.
3. The load on the servers at your internet providers location.

All of these can have an effect on your speed at any particular time.

Another item is that your internet provider may be 'throttling' (Intentionally suppressing the available speed because of high demand) your connection. Most providers will deny that they do this.

You can upgrade your internet speed service from your provider, but eventually you'll have a faster speed than the upload speed of the people you're downloading from, and you can't get any faster.
