Windows Update error code 80070008

I received this error message when I tried to update my Windows. When I searched for the message behind the error code, it said that my computer may have run out of memory. I am not sure what "memory" does it refer to, because my C: still has 200GB free space and my RAM is only used about 27~30% out of 8GB.

Here are my troubleshoot attempts:

  1. Windows Update Diagnostic tool

Result said that it detected 3 problems and stated that those were "fixed". But I am still unable to update Windows.

  1. Disabled Firewall and AntiVirus program

I am using Bitdefender Total Security 2015. Disabled "On-access scanning", "Active Virus Control", as well as "Firewall". Problem persists.

  1. Manual Installation

Downloaded update files and tried to install manually. Failed to install.

  1. System File Check

I tried to run "sfc /scannow" on Command Prompt (admin), but I got the message "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation". I also tried on Safe Mode and received the same message. Do I have to enable something in order for SFC to run?

  1. Deployment Image Servicing and Management

I tried to perform DISM by first throwing in the command "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth" and it returned me an error message that leads to the same memory issue: "Error: 8 - Not enough storage is available to process this command".

  1. Memory Diagnostic Tool

Result said that there was no error detected.

Any idea what is going on..? Can somebody help me? :(

Hi Sudheendra. Thank you for your reply.

I did not do any changes to the computer prior to the issue. It just happened all of sudden when I tried to download/install updates that just came in. THE ONLY update that is successful for me is KB2976978. Currently there are 3 updates that keep on failing and give me the error code 80070008: KB3079777, KB3061512, and KB3035583.

I tried your suggestion (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058/en-us) by following the first attemp t guide, where it advised to skip Step 4. After following the steps and restarting my system, the problem is still there. In other words, it did not solve my problem.

I wonder if I should try again by including Step 4 this time, but before that, I have a question. Earlier when I followed the guide, I encountered two types of error message at Step 6: Re-register the BITS files.

    1.  The module was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.

Besides mshtml.dll, the ones that gave me the same error message are: shdocvw.dll, browseui.dll, and qmgr.dll.

    1. The module failed to load.... The specified module could not be found

    Besides msxml.dll, the ones that gave me the same error message are: gpkcsp.dll, sccbase.dll, slbcsp.dll, initpki.dll, wuaueng1.dll, wucltui.dll, wuweb.dll, and muweb.dll.

Could you tell me what these errors are? Could any of these be the cause of my problem?

    Can somebody help..?

As you can see that I can't even perform DISM ScanHealth because of the issue. I am starting to think that "Windows Update" is not the real issue here, but this "memory insufficiency" that holds back everything to perform as they should.

After taking a glance at Event logs, there are also many errors that lead to the same problem: not enough storage/memory and I have TOTALLY NO IDEA WHAT STORAGE/MEMORY that causes the problem.

If no one in Microsoft can offer me help, what should I do to this computer? I am totally lost here.
