Windows Updates disabled java 8 exception list

We have been rolling out windows updates to our clients and it would seem (issue arose day after updates rolled out) all clients running java 8 now have problems if they have been adding exceptions in the site list under Java control panel.

  • All exceptions have been removed and the edit option is now greyed out!

I thought windows updates were meant to be there to secure systems, not destroy them!

Any ideas anyone?

    Hi AnonymousKOE,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

You can follow the steps below on how to unhide your files or folders:

    a. For shortcut: Open the Run command. On the box, type in %appdata% and then press Enter. If you have limited capabilities on your computer, follow option b instead.

    b. For Windows 7 or Windows 10:

    1.  Go to Control Panel

    1.   Click on Appearance and Personalization

    3.  Click on Folder Options (Windows 7) or File Explorer Options (Windows 10)

    1. Go to the View tab

    5.  Check Hidden files and folders, and click Show hidden files, folders, or drives

    6.  Uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"

          7. Click Apply and then OK.

Open File Explorer, go to Users folder and you should now be able to see the App Data folder.

To unhide it, right click the folder and then click on Properties. In General tab, uncheck Hidden, click Apply and then hit OK.

Feel free to get back to us if you need further assistance.

    Regards,

    Anna Bol
