Scheduled Tasks would not start in Windows Server 2019

Hello!

Would anybody tell me if the Scheduled Tasks that are triggered by some eventIDs can still be used in Windows server 2019 ?

I've got several tasks that work perfect in Windows Server 2008R2-2016, but do not work any more on Windows Server 2019, for example, this test task works on any pre-2019 server but would do nothing in 2019:

After running the following command...

Eventcreate /t Information /id 900 /l System /d "Test event in the System log."

...the task is successfully triggered:

On the box with the Windows Server 2019 nothing happens at all - no errors, no "Task started".

Thank you in advance,
Michael

    Hi,
1.I created similar task scheduler in server 2019 with the event ID trigger and got the information of task started/completed in the history, which proved this event ID trigger should be working in server 2019 as well.

2.Kindly confirm and compare if any other roles have been installed for the non-working server 2019 than other previous version.

3.Please confirm check the security options under the General tab. Following is the screenshot of my server 2019, which is the default settings.

    Hi JennyYan-MSFT,

"which proved this event ID trigger should be working in server 2019 as well." - yes, it should, but it would not on any of my 5 Windows Server 2019 boxes :(

2.Kindly confirm and compare if any other roles have been installed for the non-working server 2019 than other previous version. - ??? This "feature" should not depend on any roles installed and must work out of box on a newly-installed OC.

    、Hi,
Thanks for the screenshot. The only difference I could see is the security option.
1.Have you tried with "Run only when user is log on"?

2.Per your second screenshot, the user content is TESTENTERPRISE\Entadmin, how about aligning this content with the user account under security option?

    Hi,

"1.Have you tried with "Run only when user is log on"?" - yes, I have - the result is the same (by the way - what's the purpose of creating a task which runs only when the user is logged on? :)

"how about aligning this content with the user account under security option?" - sorry - didn't understand it: this is a test machine and I'm using a single admin account (EntAdmin) there.

    Hi,
1.Basically, If this setting "Run whether user is logged on or not " is checked, the tasks will not run interactively. To make a task run interactively, select the Run only when user is logged on radio button."

2.From the event log, it showed this event log was created by Entadmin, while in the task scheduler General page, it showed the user group as Testenterprise\administrator.
Not sure if this matters but you could test by changing to the same.

Hope this helps and please help to accept as Answer if the response is useful.

    Thanks,
    Jenny
