Thanks for trying Joan Pin, I've tried everything you suggested, I even purchased and installed several display driver cards, but was not able to install any new drivers in Windows 8.1. Every time I tried to install new drivers, it always reverts back toMicrosoft Basic Display Adapter.

And said that the drivers can not be installed because they are not digitally signed.

I've gone as far as to take my computer to Best Buy for them to fix it, and they was unable to.

The computer works great, I can duplicate my displays whenever I revert back to Windows xp (I'm using two hard drives. one SSD, and a regular hard rive. The SSD is using Windows 81, and the other is using Windows xp).

I noticed on Youtube that other people are having the same issue, and making recommendation which I've tried but it doesn't work!! For your information, here is the Youtube linkĀ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSrPIkoL1I0.

I hope it will help to shed some light on the problem I'm experiencing. Here is a couple of screen shots of my displays as follows.

    Hi Franklyn,

One of the possible reasons why you're getting this concern is due to an out-dated driver. To isolate your concern, we'd like to ask a few questions:

    • Have you tried using a different Digital Visual Interface (DVI) cable, High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cable and Video Graphics Array (VGA) cable for your device?
    • Have you tried running Windows update to make sure that there's no missing updates on your PC?
    • Did you uninstall and reinstall your current driver with an updated one downloaded from the manufacturer's website?

In the meantime, you may follow these steps to change display presentation mode:

    1. Press Windows key + P on your keyboard.
    2. Select Second screen.
    3. If the Second screen option is not available, wait for 15 seconds for the display to automatically revert back to your main display.
    4. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.
    5. Type displayswitch.exe.
    6. Click OK and check if the Second screen is now available.

    Let us know the result.

Hi There, thanks for your reply.I'm looking for extended display.

Yes, it's happening to all my profile.

Yes, I tried to update the display driver, but it always rejects all the other drivers, and reverts back to the Microsoft basic display driver

The model of my computer is an Acer AM5100-E5307A.

I'm using my computer as a DAW for my recording studio, so I need to have it up and running ASAP. Thanks for your help.

    My best regards,

    Franklyn Harrison

    Hi Franklyn,

We'd like to learn more about your concern, so we can determine the best solution. Can you provide the answer to the following questions:

    • What display function are you looking for, is it duplicate, extended or external display?
    • Is this happening to all user profile?
    • Have you perform an update to display drivers?
    • What is the make and model of computer?

If you can also provide us a screenshot of your concern, then that would be helpful.

    Hope to hear from you.
