Cannot see variable's properties when I hover over while debugging on my second monitor.

So this is strange and can't figure out why this happens. I have my laptop connected to an external monitor via an hdmi cable. I have my display settings set to 'extend these displays'. So just a basic setup, nothing fancy. When I'm debugging on my second monitor, I'm not able to see the properties of a variable when I hover over it. But if I slide my Visual Studio window over on to my laptop screen it works fine. I don't understand why that would happen. Is there a setting somewhere I need to change?
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. It has been bugging me for months. I just got a new monitor today, thinking it might fix the problem, but no luck. Still the same :(
FYI - I remote into my office for work, not sure if that make a difference.
