Copy/Paste Function will only paste a random file path

My copy and paste function is working incorrectly. If I copy anything, it will instead paste

"C:\Users\steam\AppData\Local\Temp\PRODUCT_NAME_UNKNOWN_CrashDumpPRODUCT_VERSION_MAJOR_UNKNOWN-PRODUCT_VERSION_MINOR_UNKNOWN-2018-08-09--20-58-52_.dmp"

instead of what I had copied.

It doesn't matter if I'm copying from Word and pasting in Chrome, or notepad to Word, it will only paste this file path. On some occasion it will work correctly, but only rarely.

I went to where the file is located and there is about 51,000 of these files, and they just keep adding every second.

Even after computer restarts it will do this. How did this happen and what should I do?

    Hello Tryone,

Based on the information that you have provided, it's either you have a malware or the copy function does not work. To isolate the issue, can you try using the on-screen keyboard to copy and paste a word to check if it's still same?

From what I know regarding the file path that you have, it is possible that there is a steam app that is not working properly or keeps crashing. Do you have a game that is not working? Since this is temp folder, try deleting the files inside the said folder and see how it goes.

I would also suggest that you run a full antivirus scan for possible infections.

Let us know how it goes.
