ReFS.sys error

Hello,

I recently restarted Windows 10 in order that my PC could carry out a update. However, after many hours and several attempts at rebooting, the computer was stuck on a black screen with a spinning spiral at the bottom of it.

I tried a third party software to troubleshoot, and it told me that Windows had failed because a "critical driver is missing or contains errors" (ReFS.sys).

Trying a Windows 10 repair disc to restore to a system image from the 5th resulted in an error.

Now when I turn on my computer, it says "Missing operating system".

What should I do next? (Thanks).

Are you following the process as given by Greg?

I tried that ages ago, unsuccessfully. I've just managed to succeed in installing 10, after downloading Win 10 64 bit directly from some link online.

    (Thanks for your help).

I've tried installing Windows 10 on top of Windows 7, but I now get the error message

"Windows cannot install required files. Make sure that all files are required for installation are available and restart the instalaltion. Error code 0x8007025D".

I am attempting to install from a Windows 10 disc I created, onto the same drive & partition as the Windows 7 installation.
