My tumbling window trigger in Azure data Factory is not running

My tumbling window trigger is not running. It does not have any dependencies.

Please see below screen print, even though the scheduled start time has passed

trigger status is "Started"

it was supposed to start running at 15:00 EST 07/07. today is 07/08

this trigger was newly deployed at 11:00 AM EST on 07/07

Why you don’t see any runs yet ?

A tumbling-window trigger fires when the window closes, not when it opens.

So ADF builds its first window like this :

WindowStart = 2025-07-07 19:00 UTC

WindowEnd = 2025-07-08 19:00 UTC : pipeline is queued here

At the moment you took the screenshot that first window was still open, so the trigger quite correctly had nothing to do yet. The first pipeline run will be generated at 19:00 UTC on 8 July (15:00 local Eastern time). This behavior is documented in the tumbling-window trigger docs, the service waits for the whole window to elapse before it evaluates dependencies and starts the pipeline.

Thank you, I thought it was Schedule trigger that behaves this way. I take it as a learning experience. thanks again for quick response. I could validate that tumbling window triggers are working the way you mentioned.
