Unable to change network authentication method

Hello,

I have a problem where I'm unable to change authentication method and therefore can't connect to the internet through ethernet adapter.

Basically, I want to change my authentication method to SecureW2 TTLS because other methods don't work with my ISP. Screenshot showing the problem:

After clicking OK, I get this error (The changes to Authentication settings could not be saved). I also get the same error if I for example try to uncheck "Enable IEEE 201.1x authentication" or if I try to change anything under Authentication tab.

Reinstalling Windows solved my problem a week ago, but now this error is back and I don't want to reinstall Windows again.

Things I've tried:

Reinstalling adapter

Updating adapter drivers

Restarting TCP/IP via netsh

Reinstalling SecureW2 (I have installation program for this authentication method)

Troubleshooting network

Restarting network

Probably couple more things I already forgot

Any solutions?

    Hi mrGauss

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Could you confirm if this also happens in the default Administrator account?

    Open Start

    Type: cmd

    Right click CMD

    Click Run as administrator

    At the command prompt, type:

    net user administrator /active:yes

    Hit Enter

Close command prompt, restart, then try signing into the Administrator account.

Try making this changes again to see if they work.

    I did as asked.

    Enabled Administrator account

There was a short setup as if I just entered desktop for the first time

Tried changing some setting in Authentication tab and got the same error

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: services.msc

    Hit Enter

    Scroll down to Wired AutoConfig

    Double click it

Make sure, in the box that pops up, that Startup Type is set to Automatic. If service status is not Running push Start option. Click Apply if you made any changes and then click OK.

Restart then check if you can now apply those changes.

    Already tried that.

Wired AutoConfig was set to automatic so I tried restarting (stop and start) it to see if anthing changes, but nothing did.
