As you will see from the attached picture, I can not install VS community 2019 due to the installation extending to far to the right. Which means I can not click on the install button. Please help - how do I get this to work. I am installing the IDE on Windows 8.1 Thank you for your answer. Regards, Pravin

    Hi @Pravin Goorun ,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Please check the Visual Studio 2019 system requirements: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/releases/2019/system-requirements#visual-studio-2019-system-requirements.
I suggest you check for Windows Updates and install all pending updates. And set the recommended size and resolution for your device. Then, reboot your computer and try again.

If the situation persists, can you tell me the size and resolution for your device? If possible, please share us some screenshots about your issue so that we investigate it further.

    Sincerely,
    Anna

Hi @Anna Xiu-MSFT thank you for you reply.

I have run windows update and applied all updates required.

With the same result - the application still extends to the far right outside of the screen.
I then looked at the hardware requirements again and I think it is my screen resolution on my laptop - looking at the settings, I believe that this is the max (see attachment). I will attach screen shots as required. there has to be some option for me to install vs community 2019.80776-screenshot-01.png80803-screenshot-02.png

Please could you assist me. there has to be an option to install vs community 2019 on my laptop. I have an Excel Spreadsheet application that I would like to convert into an app to run on a desktop/laptop and possibly on iOS and Android.

    Looking forward to you reply.

    Thank you,
    Pravin

Hi @Anna Xiu-MSFT , thank you for getting back to me. I tried to minimize VS installer window and I am unable to do so. The system won't even allow me to resize the window. Well I guess it is all down to the Video card under System Requirements. What a pity.

Would I be able to use an older version, say one below 2019 that would work on my machine based on my laptop video card?

    Kind Regards,
    Pravin

Hi @Anna Xiu-MSFT , I have uninstalled VS community 2019 installer via Program Features and have downloaded the VS community 2017 installer, 2017 installer is working perfectly okay - I checked the system requirements regarding the video card and it is the same as for 2019. I guess the installer for 2019 has a bug, I am not sure.

    Kind Regards,
    Pravin

    @Pravin Goorun
Even if I configure my screen to a ridiculous low resolution, I'm able to drag the installer to the left in order to get the install buttons into view. Is that impossible in your case?

Another way I find I can control the download and install button is to press Shift + Tab four times when entering the window. Apparently, the tabindex for the download and install option is the maximum - 4.

Also, the install button is the default button, so an Enter would start the install...

So, I wouldn't a cosmetic hurdle like this one get in the way of installing VS 2019 - unless of course the installed version gives you trouble as well.
