Historically digitally signed emails included the encryption certificate of the sender. This was a handy way for correspondents to exchange encryption certificates. In Microsoft Outlook 2016 or Microsoft 365 that capability to save the encryption certificate has been removed. I can't even find the encryption certificate! I can see and save the digital signature certificate but not the encryption certificate.

I did a test where I sent a signed message to ordinary "Mail for Windows 10". "Mail for Windows 10" allowed me to retrieve the encryption certificate, so I know it is being sent and can be saved.

The ability to capture the sender's encryption certificate is very useful.

How do I capture the SMIME encryption certificate in Microsoft Outlook 2016 or Microsoft 365?

    Hi @John Volmer ,

According to my experience, we could save the certificate information via save the sender to outlook contact after you receive the signed/encrypted message, and then we could find the certificate information via double-click the contact and click the Certificates field:

If you haven't tried it, please follow these steps: right-click the sender>Add to Outlook contacts
