Why is the text of my Outlook email messages turning white/invisible?

I'm a Mac user of Outlook 16.47 and recently when I click in the body of an email the text will turn white, and so invisible, until I highlight it all and change it to black. There is no option in preferences to select the colour of the email text. It happens erratically, so I'm think its a key combination I'm accidentally hitting?

    Hi @Fiona Martin ,

    Welcome to our forum.

I noticed that you are working with an older version of Outlook client, in order to get a better user experience, it's recommended to update your client to the latest version.

For your issue itself, I understand that sometimes the message text would turn to white automatically when you write it in your Outlook for mac, is it right?

If so, based on my research and test, it would occur when we switch to the format of message to plain text (turn off HTML) accidently and set the font color of plain text to white. In this case, it's suggested to check your font setting in preferences and change it like below:

If the issue still exists or that's not your case, please feel free to post back.

I had the same issue this week and as non-glamorous as it is, I was able to solve this by quitting Outlook for Mac and starting it again. Formatting the plain text font didn't help me as my compositions were fine. My issue was in reading emails in my Inbox. A good restart fixed it...we'll see for how long.
