.NET Framework 4.0 doesn't exist?

I started up my laptop today, and multiple alert messages popped up, telling me that I needed to install a certain version of the .NET Framework.

I've looked into it, and followed all the instructions from multiple different websites. I've tried to re-install Version 4.8, and it says that it's already installed. But when I go to Registry Editor, the v4 path doesn't exist.

Any help would be appreciated

    Hi,

I've performed the actions in the above video, however, they did not work. I had a look at the version of the mscoree.dll file, and it's actually a higher version than shown in the video. The version is 10.0.18362.1, an entire 6 versions higher than the one shown in the video.

    Hello SliceDice,

Technically, 4.8 contains every bit of what 4.0 has. Did you try to enable it from Optional features?

Type optionalfeatures.exe in the search and make sure every box is checked under .NET framework advanced services.

I've had a look, and this is all I have. I've turned all of them on, windows successfully turned them on, and then when I had a look again, they turned off. (I also enabled ASP.NET)

Alright, thanks. Technically everything is correct in my opinion - you should try repairing the .NET framework. See the methods here:
