Start my computer without using the pin.

Upon setting up my new HP computer I was asked for a pin number which I did, not knowing I had to put in that pin to start up my computer every morning. Is there any way I can just start up my computer without using the pin please.

I have tried to cancel the pin by going into settings, Accounts, Sign-in Options, I forgot my pin, Continue, leave pin field empty, Click on cancel. Pin was supposed to be removed upon start up but unfortunately not for me anyway.

Any other ideas would be gratefully received.

Cheers

    Hello asus1254,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be happy to assist you today. Are you using a Microsoft Account?

If you want to sign in automatically on startup, Please try the methods below.

If you somehow setup a Pin, Kindly remove it first

Press Start then search sign-in options

Click Windows Hello Pin > Remove

After that, Press Start then type: netplwiz

Uncheck "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" box

Select the Account you want to sign-in automatically then click Apply

Enter the username and password for the account you want to automatically logon

If you are using a Microsoft account, make sure to enter the full email address.

Type your full email address and enter your password and Click Ok

    Click Ok again.

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

    Sincerely,

    John DeV

    Hello asus1254,

Thank you for updating me with that information. The method in my first response allows you to sign in automatically without having to input any password or pin.

If the above steps did not work, You can use this free utility software called Autologon to sign in automatically.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/d...

Download and Extract Autologon to your computer

    Run Autologon64

If you are using a Microsoft account, make sure to enter the full email address.

enter your password and Click Enable

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

    Sincerely,

    John DeV

    Hi again John DeV,

So sorry to worry you again about this. I turned on my computer this morning and now the computer is asking for my Microsoft password in stead of the pin I used before! It would not accept my Microsoft password yesterday, so I had to reset it, it consists of 8 letters and symbols! I will be there forever trying to sign in whereas before I only had a 4 number pin. Maybe I should have left it as that. I didn't think it would be so difficult.

Do you think I should try the autologon you suggested? How does that work.?

    Cheers

    Hi John DeV,

Good news! I went back to netplwiz, unchecked user must enter password and username, I did uncheck this yesterday, anyway I followed the prompts, turned off my computer, turned it back on and ---WOW--- it opened straight up, Sooo happy, thank you so much for your help and patience.

Just hope it stays that way, ha ha.

    Cheers
