Hello,

 I have started getting this BSOD quite frequently over the last few days. I googled the issue and tried some of the suggested fixes but as yet it has not stopped.  Is there a way to figure out what exactly is causing the problem?

thanks in advance.

    Hi, I'm Mario, an independent advisor and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

    We are sorry about what happened.

    The moment the problem occurs it presents you with an error message. Could you attach a screenshot of this error to this conversation so we can check it for you?

    I look forward to your reply, ok?

    Kind Regards,

    Mario SPB

    Hi Mario,

     thanks for the reply and taking an interest in trying to solve my issue.

    This is the BSOD, it was not possible to get a screenshot as all computer functions are disabled when it arrives but I managed to get a picture with my phone.

    regards,

    Niall.

    First of all, to try to solve the problem you should:

    • Perform a clean boot;
    • Update your graphics card.

    ============

    => Update your graphics card:

    Step 1: Right-click Start button and choose Device Manager from the menu.

    Step 2: Double-click Display adapters category to expand it.

    Step 3: Right-click your graphics driver and choose Update driver.

    => Perform a clean boot of windows:

    Initialization clean:

    1. Press the Windows + R keys, type MSConfig and click Ok.
    2. On the Services tab, click Hide Microsoft Services.
    3. Click Disable All.
    4. On the Program Startup tab, click Open Task Manager.
    5. Disable all applications, one at a time.
    6. Apply the changes and restart the equipment.

    Note: This process will not affect the operation of your applications, they will just not start with the operating system. Later, you can activate them again.

    Perform the steps and get back to us to let us know if you were successful.

    I had already found this advice online and performed 7 diferent ways to try and solve this issue.

    previously I allowed windows to search for the best driver for my graphics card and it said that the best driver was already installed. This time I went direct to the dell web site to manually install the latest driver but the latest driver was not compatible with my laptop. So no progress made.

    I also tried the clean boot again, it is hard to judge if there is an issue with some 3rd party software in this situation. When I clean boot there is no immediate BSOD, but of course its entirely random when it appears. I left the computer on but it has little functionality in this state , internet, sound and various other functions are disabled. After a while I had to renable the disabled software and sure enough the BSOD appeared not long after.

    Is the a way of accessing a crash report to find exactally whats causing this, what I have read is that reference by pointer is very general.

    Thanks once again Mario for taking the time to try and help me figure out way windows is crashing.

    Hi niall.iom,

    I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this.

    Please check to see if your PC is producing any minidump files, I will check those to see if they provide any insight into a potential cause of the system crashes.

    Open Windows File Explorer.

    Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump

    Copy any minidump files onto your Desktop, then zip those up.

    Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.), then choose to share those and get a share link.

    Then post the link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you.
