Getting error code 0x80070002 when installing latest cumulative update

Hello community ,

Today i have clean installed windows 10 after a week of trying windows 11 in beta channel , after clean installing , i have checked for updates and there were many driver updates which updated successfully , but this : 2021-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H1 for x64-based Systems (KB5005033) has problem installing , it presents me with the error code : 0x80070002 . Why is this error coming even though i did a clean install . Pls reply about this problem ASAP . you can also see the screenshot below .

    Hello Manas,

    Thank you for updating me with that information. If the Repair Install via In-place upgrade did not work, you may need to consider doing a "Reset this PC" with "Keep my files" option selected. I recommend to download and install all the available updates after a Clean Installation or a Reset to avoid conflicts.

    Hello Manas,

    Thank you for updating me with that information. I apologize that the above methods did not resolve the issue.

    If the issue still persists, Please try performing a Repair Install of Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade. It will definitely help in resolving update errors. Performing this can repair broken operating system files while your personal files, settings and installed applications will not be affected.

    **Few things to check on the PC

    1. Back up your personal data and files to an external hard drive, USB thumb drive.
    2. Ensure you are signed in or have administrator rights to do a repair install
    3. Unplug all external peripherals except for the Mouse, Keyboard, and LAN cable before starting
    4. Disable or uninstall any 3rd party Anti-Virus program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade

    Download the media creation tool(Click Download tool now) and save it to your computer.

    Open the tool and select Upgrade this PC now.

    Make sure to select Keep personal files and apps.

    It might take some time to install Windows 10. Your computer will restart a few times, Make sure you don’t turn off your PC

    Hi John, Are you able to advise on Win 11 install problems? I am at the same point as Manas and am having a similar problem but it is only with Win 11 releases 10.0.22000.160 & 132 which fail to Install with error 0x80070002. All other for Win 10 updates have been fine including one on 8-19 (KB5005101). Win 11 release 10.0.22000.160 and 132 are the only updates I have ever had a problem with.

    This is on a 2 month old Lenovo Ideapad 5 Core I 5 laptop with: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz 2.42 GHz processor & 16 Gig of Ram. Running Win 10 Version 21H1, OS Build 19043.1200, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0.

    I have also reported this on the Feedback Hub. But, I am inclined to think that this may be some kind of bug on the MS side since these are beta releases. Please advise. Thanks,
