Why does this program code appear on my screen?

I frequently incur this bug on my Windows 11 machine that displays the programming source code all over my screen. But I noticed that the start button displays over this bug.

I am facing this all the time. This bug persists even if I restart. I am having a hard time using the PC

Can anyone help?

It is strange, but I'm seeing multiple users reporting it on different Windows versions, like 8, 8.1 and 11. My guess is that it might be a browser issue. Who knows? It could even be caused by another app.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc > View > Group by type > does it show any app in the Apps section which is not opened on the taskbar?

    Hi anoopma

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

That seems to be some JavaScript on your screen, what is strange is that the code is on top of your icons as well as the background.

    1

When that code appears, can you still use the icons on your Desktop?

    2

Are you using any 3rd party customization or theming utility in Windows?

    3

When that appears on your Desktop, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and select the Processes tab, do you see anything near the top of the list of processes that may be causing this?

Hi, I have the same issue - just happened this morning when I started it after an update last night. I have a Microsoft Surface and Windows 10 Pro.

I checked if anything else is running via the Task Manager, as suggested. Apart from my Avast Antivirus running a little bit every now and then, nothing.

Everything works as usual, but it is hard to impossible to read anything because of the code across the screen.

My login screen and start menu and bar do not have the code.

I say it's the update I installed last night...

I also just noticed that when I search for something in Excel, the code doesn't appear over the search box that pops up, and when I have my file explorer open and I hover over it in the taskbar, the view of the contents of the folders is completely clear of code.

Here you can see I am hovering over the little preview window in the start bar, so I can see the screen without the code.

As soon as I click out of it/move the cursor, the code covers the whole screen again.
